Find the cause of a warning, starting problem or failed electrical function. Book focused testing, understand the findings and compare the repair or replacement quote for your BMW.

Choose the starting point
Electrical problems can affect one function or several systems together. Book the reported fault, then use testing to decide whether it needs a supply repair, wiring work, a sensor, calibration or a module repair.
Start with an agreed diagnostic allowance. Share the exact message and when it appears. Fault codes guide testing, but do not automatically prove that the named component needs replacement.
Describe the affected light, display, radio or control. Checking its supply, connections and operation helps separate a circuit problem from a failed component.
Share the findings and proposed part. Compare repair, replacement and any required coding or calibration with a complete fitted quotation.
Plan the assessment
These estimates are retained from our existing electrical service listing. They help compare the named tasks; they are not newly confirmed fixed offers. Diagnosis and a completed repair are separate purchases unless your written quote expressly combines them.
| Work and scope to confirm | Estimated price |
|---|---|
| Initial electrical diagnosis Testing allowance for the reported fault. Agree the time and scope, especially for an intermittent complaint. | AED 250–600 Diagnosis only |
| ABS sensor repair or replacement Confirmed fault affecting one wheel-speed sensor or its local connection. Identify the component, fitting and checks in the quote. | AED 450–950 |

| Steering-angle sensor replacement Compatible part, access and any required setup need a vehicle-specific fitted quote. | AED 950–1,800 |
| DSC module repair Eligible repair of the diagnosed unit. A complete replacement assembly is a different scope. | AED 1,500–3,500 |
| Headlight fault repair Agreed repair to the affected light or local circuit. A complete new headlight is not assumed. | AED 500–1,200 |
| Instrument-cluster repair Eligible repair to the existing cluster, with the affected function identified before approval. | AED 800–2,000 |
The inherited ranges did not state VAT treatment or every fitting inclusion. Ask for a VAT-inclusive fitted total showing the actual part, labor, setup and testing. Extended diagnosis and unrelated faults are separate. A diagnostic charge is not automatically credited against a repair unless that is agreed.

Power and starting
A weak battery, poor connection or charging problem can affect more than starting. The assessment should consider the reported symptoms and the supply conditions rather than treating every warning as an independent failed module.
Battery testing and replacement needs the correct battery specification and vehicle procedure. If replacement is recommended, confirm the fitted battery type and whether registration or configuration is required for that application.
Repeated discharge needs a separate question: why is the charge being lost? An electrical draw while parked, an unsuitable battery or a charging fault can need different checks. Restoring charge does not, by itself, identify the underlying cause.
For a car that will not start, describe whether it cranks, clicks or remains silent. Tell us how long it was parked and whether a jump-start or recent battery change altered the symptom. These details help plan the investigation without guessing the failed part.
The diagnostic visit
Share the exact warning, affected function and conditions. A safely taken photo or earlier invoice can help preserve details. Mention recent repairs, water entry or accessory installation when relevant.
The inspection can combine scan information with appropriate supply, connection and signal checks. The tests should support or rule out a possible cause, rather than use a code description as the sole reason to order a part.
Ask what has been established and whether further testing is needed. For an intermittent fault, agree the next time allowance and how the workshop will update you before extending the investigation.
The finishing checks should relate to the original complaint and the applicable repair procedure. Clearing a warning is not the same as proving that an intermittent problem has been resolved.
Note whether the fault appears after rain, a long drive, parking overnight or operating a particular accessory. Describe what returns to normal and what stays disabled. The sequence of events can help select the next check when the car behaves normally at the appointment.
Several separate complaints may need separate investigations. Decide which one takes priority and what the initial charge covers. Ask for a staged estimate if extended monitoring or dismantling is required, rather than assuming a short scan includes unlimited diagnosis.

ABS, DSC and steering information
An ABS or stability-control warning needs assessment of the relevant system. A wheel-speed sensor, its wiring and the signal it supplies are related checks. The warning alone does not identify which part has failed or justify replacing sensors around the vehicle.
For a confirmed sensor fault, ask which wheel or component is involved and whether the quote covers one sensor, its fitting and the appropriate finishing checks. Damaged wiring or a related mechanical issue can change the work needed.
A steering-angle calibration is a procedure for an applicable vehicle and repair condition. It is not a substitute for replacing a failed component, nor should every steering-related message automatically become a sensor replacement.
If a DSC control-unit repair is proposed, ask what supports the diagnosis and which function is being repaired. Follow the vehicle’s instructions about driving with a warning. A car with impaired braking or control should be assessed before continued use.
Choose the affected function
Describe what fails and whether other equipment stops at the same time. The service routes below help focus the appointment without assuming that the complete assembly must be replaced.
Headlight repair can involve the light unit, local circuit or relevant control component. Report flickering, one failed light or a warning separately. Ask whether the proposed price is a component repair or a complete assembly replacement.
Instrument-cluster repair addresses the diagnosed display or operating fault. A speedometer complaint may involve information supplied to the cluster as well as the display itself. Avoid paying for overlapping repair scopes without clarification.
Radio diagnosis and repair starts with the lost function: sound, power, reception or control. If the complaint includes the screen or controller, explain the broader iDrive symptoms so the appropriate components can be assessed together.
For a plug-in model, a charging-system fault needs the exact vehicle, displayed message and circumstances. For model-specific symptoms, diagnostic scope and indicative costs, see our BMW iX repair guide. Confirm the workshop’s scope and equipment for the application. A generic electrical repair price should not be treated as a quote for a high-voltage battery or charger.

Repair or replace
A confirmed module fault may allow repair of the existing unit or require a compatible replacement. Ask which option is available, what the diagnosis establishes and whether the repair addresses the actual failed function.
For replacement, identify the part specification and condition. New, repaired and used electronics have different histories and commercial terms. Compatibility and any applicable coding or configuration must be considered before the part is ordered.
Some faults require addressing an external cause, such as an affected connection or water entry, alongside the electronics work. Ask whether that cause is part of the quote. Replacing a unit without explaining the surrounding findings can leave an important part of the job unclear.
Confirm the applicable warranty against the particular part and labor, with any limitations in writing. Keep the findings, part details and final checks with your invoice. They make later servicing easier if a different warning appears.
Three example quotations
These illustrative estimates use the planning ranges above; they are not completed-job invoices. The first is diagnosis only. The repair examples assume the stated parts or repair work, fitting and relevant checks. Confirm the final VAT-inclusive total and any separate diagnostic charge.
An agreed investigation allowance for one reported electrical complaint, with the findings and next step explained.

Common questions
A clear starting scope helps you compare testing and repair costs.
The initial planning range is AED 250–600 for an agreed investigation of the reported fault. Confirm the time allowance, what findings will be provided and the VAT-inclusive amount. Repair parts, labor and extended intermittent-fault testing are separate unless expressly included.
Not necessarily. A code helps identify the system or signal to investigate. Relevant supply, wiring and operation checks are needed to support the repair recommendation. Ask what evidence identifies the failed component before approving replacement.
Supply problems can affect multiple functions, so battery condition and relevant connections may be part of the assessment. That does not mean every warning is caused by the battery. Test the reported problem and confirm the correct battery specification before replacing parts.
An eligible diagnosed fault may allow repair of the existing unit. Other failures need a compatible replacement. Ask about the available option, part condition, any required coding or configuration and the applicable warranty. The decision should follow the findings and vehicle application.
A fault that is present during testing can be easier to trace than one that appears only after parking or particular driving conditions. Agree the initial allowance and how further monitoring will be approved. Share the exact conditions and previous repair history to help plan the investigation.
Send the model, main symptom or warning message and preferred appointment details. A safely taken photo or relevant previous invoice is useful if available. The VIN and further technical information can be confirmed when needed; you do not need to identify the failed part yourself.
Tell us your model, the affected function and when the fault appears. Arrange testing at our Al Quoz 4 workshop and share your preferred appointment time.
