Estimates are not a diagnosis or a fixed offer for every 5 Series. VAT, engine code, parts condition, shared labour and any additional approved work must be clear in the vehicle-specific quotation. No repair proceeds merely because it appears in this table.

Start with the change you feel

Match the symptom

A dashboard message names the system that noticed a problem, not always the failed part. We use the symptom, scan data and physical checks together so you are not paying for the first component named by a fault code.

01Coolant loss or heat

Repeated top-ups, a hot smell or a temperature warning needs cooling-system diagnosis. We distinguish the radiator, electric water pump, thermostat, expansion tank, hose and fan before quoting. Drive no farther if the engine is overheating.

02Oil marks or smoke

Oil can travel before reaching the ground. A valve-cover, oil-filter housing, timing cover and oil-pan gasket leak have different access and costs. Early repair can protect belts, rubber parts and the engine’s oil level.

03Rattle or power loss

Cold-start rattle, misfire, blue smoke, hesitation or reduced power can involve ignition, fuel, boost, timing or internal engine condition. Our BMW engine service identifies the cause before a timing chain, turbo or engine is proposed.

04Brake or steering change

Grinding, steering shake, pulling or a knock over bumps needs the brakes, tyres, arms, bushings and dampers separated. Replacing worn 5 Series brake pads before metal contact can avoid adding discs to the repair.

05Battery or electrical faults

A slow crank, increased-discharge warning or resetting electronics may come from the battery, charging system or a module that is not going to sleep. Battery replacement includes matching and registration; recurring discharge needs diagnosis.

06Shifting or vibration

Delayed engagement, harsh shifts or vibration under load can originate in the gearbox, mounts, shafts or differential. A transmission assessment should establish whether service, selective repair, rebuild or replacement is the sensible route.

One badge, different cars

Your generation matters

The model year starts the conversation. Engine, drivetrain, brake package, suspension, driver-assistance equipment and previous repairs decide the exact service and part.

E60 / E61
2003–2010

Condition before assumptions

Age, repair history and installed equipment matter more than a generic failure list. We check leaks, cooling integrity, suspension wear, electrical behaviour and earlier repairs, then price the actual concern. A clean older 5 Series does not need every age-related part replaced at once.

F10 / F11
2010–2017

Engine code changes the job

520i, 528i, 535i and 550i badges can lead to very different four-cylinder, six-cylinder and V8 work. Timing, turbo, cooling and oil-leak prices must follow the fitted engine. Share any cold-start noise, oil consumption, temperature event or previous diagnosis when enquiring.

G30 / G31
2017–2023

Equipment changes the quote

530i, 540i and applicable 530e cars can differ in powertrain, battery, brakes, adaptive chassis and driver-assistance equipment. Battery registration, electronic setup and post-repair calibration are included only when the fitted system requires them.

G60 / G61
Current generation

Separate engine and EV work

Current petrol or plug-in hybrid 5 Series work must be separated from high-voltage BMW i5 service. A 12V electrical fault is not automatically a hybrid-battery or EV-drive repair. Tell us the exact version so the correct workshop time and parts route can be confirmed.

For major engine and gearbox work

Repair, rebuild or replace?

The cheapest line on a quote is not always the lowest total cost. The right choice depends on what failed, the condition of the remaining assembly, parts availability, expected downtime and how long you plan to keep the car.

Targeted repair

Best when testing isolates a serviceable component, seal, sensor, actuator or external part and the main assembly remains healthy. It preserves more of the original unit and usually requires the least downtime.

Ask for: failed part, related checks and finishing work.

Rebuild the unit

Useful when internal wear is confirmed but the block, casing or other core is suitable to restore. The quote should name the internal parts, machining or measurements, fluids, setup and testing—not simply say “overhaul.”

Ask for: measured condition, included internals and warranty terms.

Replace the assembly

Sensible when damage is severe, repeat repairs no longer add up or a known used, remanufactured or new unit gives a better outcome. Engine identity, mileage or remanufacturing status, accessories, adaptation and warranty must be written down.

Ask for: source, included ancillaries, coding and final total.

We can quote more than one viable route when the evidence supports a choice. If a smaller repair is unlikely to last, that risk should be clear before you spend—not discovered after the same fault returns.

Repair and maintenance

Choose the work needed

Use a dedicated service when you already know the job. If the cause is unclear, describe the symptom and arrange diagnosis instead of choosing a major replacement yourself.

Control before commitment

How the repair proceeds

A clear approval boundary protects you from paying for guesses or unplanned work. The process changes with the fault, but the commercial handoff remains straightforward.

01 · Describe

Tell us the change

Model, year, warning and when it happens are enough to begin. Share previous findings if you have them.

02 · Diagnose

Confirm the cause

Scan data and physical testing are matched to the symptom. A code alone does not authorise a part.

03 · Compare

Review the quote

Parts route, labour, required setup, VAT, expected time and applicable warranty terms are stated for approval.

04 · Verify

Repair and test

The agreed work is completed, relevant faults are rechecked and the vehicle is tested before collection or return.

Reduce the downtime

Most workshop jobs are completed within 48 hours when the required parts are available. Major engine, gearbox, programming or imported-part work can take longer; the expected time is confirmed with the quote.

Pickup and drop-off

Free Dubai pickup and drop-off is available for booked work, subject to scheduling and access. Confirm availability and the handover arrangement when you contact the garage.

Useful answers about prices, repair choices and when your 5 Series needs workshop testing.

How much does BMW 5 Series repair cost in Dubai?

Routine and smaller repairs on this page range from about AED 350 for an Autel diagnostic scan to AED 1,230 for listed AGM battery packages. Cooling and timing work can run from AED 2,950 to AED 8,500, while listed engine-replacement routes range from AED 15,000 to AED 38,000. The model, engine, parts route, damage and included finishing work decide the vehicle-specific total.

Can I book without knowing what is wrong?

Yes. Tell us the model, year, dashboard message and what changed in the way the car starts, runs, steers, brakes or shifts. A warning photo or earlier report is helpful but optional. Diagnosis should establish the failed system before a major part is approved.

Do you use genuine BMW parts?

Genuine BMW and suitable OEM parts routes are available for applicable repairs. Used, remanufactured or new assemblies may be compared for major engine or gearbox work. The quote should identify the chosen route, part or unit condition, included labour and applicable warranty terms.

How long will the repair take?

Most jobs are completed within 48 hours when parts are available. A major engine rebuild or replacement, gearbox work, programming, machining or imported part can take longer. The realistic workshop time and parts availability should be confirmed with the quotation.

When should I stop driving the car?

Stop safely and call if the engine is overheating, the oil-pressure warning appears, the check-engine light is flashing, the brakes are grinding severely or the car is unsafe to steer. Driving farther can cause additional engine, catalytic-converter, disc or tyre damage. For less urgent warnings, drive gently only if the car remains safe and arrange an assessment promptly.

Is a 530e repair the same as a normal 5 Series?

No. A plug-in hybrid still has routine engine and 12V electrical needs, but high-voltage battery and electric-drive work is a separate safety and diagnostic service. Send the exact model and warning so hybrid work is identified before it is included in the quote.

Do I need the VIN before contacting you?

No. Model, year and a short problem description are enough for the first enquiry. The VIN may be requested later to confirm the engine, brake package, battery capacity, lighting equipment or an exact part number.
