Thrust-arm repair prices
These estimated budgets cover standard replacement parts and fitting. The exact BMW, condition of the arms and access determine the written quotation.
| Work and quantity | Estimated AED |
|---|---|
| Thrust-arm bushing pairTwo compatible, separately serviceable bushes and fitting | 850–1,500 |
| Bushing pair with alignmentPair and fitting, plus a 3 or 5 Series alignment allowance | 1,100–1,850 |
| One complete thrust armOne compatible assembly and fitting when the bush-only repair is unsuitable | 900–1,600 |
The alignment-inclusive range combines AED 850–1,500 for the bushing pair with an allowance of AED 250–350 for a 3 or 5 Series alignment. Other models and more extensive repairs need their own breakdown. Alignment is not charged twice when it is already included in the agreed job.
When comparing quotations, check whether the price is for a loose bush, two fitted bushes or a complete arm. These are different purchases. A low parts-only figure leaves out removal and installation, while a complete-arm quotation may include a ball joint that a bush-only repair retains. We explain the difference so the total is useful for your decision.
Choose the repair that fits
Replace the bush or the arm?
A worn thrust-arm bush does not automatically mean every front suspension arm needs replacing. We assess the arm and its joint before recommending the appropriate option.
A serviceable bush replacement
Replacing the bush separately can be sensible when the arm is straight, its mounting bore is undamaged and the ball joint remains serviceable. The correct replacement must be available for that arm, and the repair arrangement must allow separate bush installation. We establish those points during the inspection and parts check.
This option retains a sound arm while renewing the affected mounting. It still involves careful removal, suitable tooling and correct positioning. The fitted cost includes that work. We compare both sides of the axle and explain the reason for a pair, rather than adding a second bush simply because it appears on a generic package list.
A complete thrust-arm assembly
A complete arm may be appropriate when the ball joint is worn, the arm is damaged or the bush cannot be serviced separately. It can also be worth comparing installed costs when press work makes a bush-only repair less economical. The selected assembly must match the vehicle and the correct side.
A thrust arm is one part of the front suspension. If the inspection identifies another link, control arm replacement is quoted for that specific component. Your estimate names the arm and quantity, so a recommendation for one assembly does not become an unexplained front-end overhaul.
Find the cause of the shake
A focused front suspension check
A braking vibration can involve thrust-arm bushes, but tires, wheels, brakes and other joints can produce similar complaints. The inspection follows what you notice.
Vibration while slowing down
Tell us whether the shake starts only when braking or is also present at a steady speed. We assess the relevant suspension movement alongside wheel, tire and brake condition. A damaged bush can contribute to the symptom, but changing it by assumption may leave the original problem unresolved.
A knock over low-speed bumps
A worn mounting may move as the load changes, producing a knock that feels as though it comes from the front floor or wheel area. Ball joints, anti-roll-bar links and mounts can sound similar. We check the affected joints and ask when the noise occurs before deciding which part to quote.
A change in steering feel
Drifting, vague response or unwanted movement needs a wider check of the front end. Tire condition and wheel geometry also matter. If the concern involves several areas, a suspension inspection can establish the overall repair needs while keeping any thrust-arm work clearly identified.
If the vehicle becomes severely unstable, steering control is affected or a suspension component appears loose, stop driving and arrange recovery. We can help you discuss the next step by phone, but a noise description alone cannot establish that a car is safe to drive.

Careful removal and installation
Fitting that protects the arm
The mounting bore and the new bush need proper support during installation. Where a press-in repair is permitted, suitable tooling helps apply force in the intended place. The old bush is removed with care, and the arm is checked before a replacement is installed.
Orientation can matter. Some bushes have markings or an installation position that must be followed, and fluid-filled designs need the correct application. A replacement that looks similar on the bench is not enough to establish compatibility. We use the part reference and vehicle details to identify what belongs in the arm.
Reassembly follows the procedure for the fitted suspension. For bonded rubber joints, final tightening is carried out at the specified vehicle position where required. This avoids treating every fastener and bush design alike. Relevant fixings and any replacement requirements are considered as part of the repair.
Once assembled, the suspension is checked for correct location, clearances and the original concern. Where the work affects wheel geometry, wheel alignment is considered after the mechanical repair. A suitable road assessment helps evaluate the finished result. The handover explains what was replaced and any other findings that remain.
Match the intended ride
Choosing replacement bushes
The part should suit the arm and the way the vehicle was designed to isolate movement. Brand, construction and application all belong in a useful quotation.
Genuine BMW parts
Genuine parts are supplied under the BMW brand for a specified application. They are an option when you want that supply route and part specification. Availability and the exact reference are checked for your vehicle; we do not assume every version of a model uses the same bush.
The quote identifies what is being supplied and the applicable terms. A genuine part should still be installed correctly, with the surrounding arm and joint in suitable condition.
Compatible replacements
An independent manufacturer may offer a suitable replacement for the application. We explain the proposed brand and construction rather than relying on a broad “OEM-quality” label. Compatibility includes the bush design and intended location, not just its outside dimensions.
It is not accurate to assume every independently supplied bush has inferior tolerances or a shorter life. Compare the identified part, fitting requirements and support attached to the actual quotation.
Modified suspension
A solid or performance-oriented bush can change compliance, noise and vibration. It is a different choice from restoring the original road-car feel. Tell us if your BMW has modified suspension so the fitted arrangement is considered before parts are selected.
We can discuss retaining the existing setup or returning to a compatible standard arrangement. Product suitability and availability need to be assessed for the specific arm; a universal upgrade claim is not useful.
The model starts the conversation
Check the actual suspension layout
Thrust arm, tension strut and control arm terminology can vary between BMW chassis and parts listings. We identify the physical component before ordering.
3, 5 and 7 Series
Different generations can use different arm shapes, mounting sizes and bush designs. Rear-wheel drive and xDrive versions may also have different parts or access arrangements. The model and year are enough to start an enquiry; the garage obtains any further vehicle details needed to confirm the replacement.
If you already have an inspection report, it can help identify what another workshop recommended. We still assess the car before agreeing the repair. A part described only as a “front bush” could belong to a different arm, so the written quote should be more specific.
X models and performance variants
An SUV or performance model should not be priced solely by borrowing a sedan part number. The suspension arrangement, supplied assembly and access are checked for the car in front of us. A larger model does not automatically require every bush or every arm to be changed.
Other suspension bushings are inspected when the complaint or condition calls for it. Rear-arm, subframe and drivetrain mounts remain separate repair choices. Their replacement is not included in a front thrust-arm quote unless the extra work is explicitly listed.
Plan the workshop visit
A clear quote before repair
You should know what is recommended, what it costs and how the visit will be arranged before deciding to proceed.
From inspection to approval
Start by calling or sending a WhatsApp message with the BMW model and a short description of the shake, noise or movement. We arrange the assessment, identify the parts and explain the suitable repair. Technical details can be obtained later where needed; you do not need to diagnose the bush yourself.
The quotation separates the selected repair from additional findings. If removal reveals a damaged bore, seized fixing or worn joint that changes the job, we explain the change before the extra work proceeds. This matters particularly when a bush-only repair was the initial expectation.
Completion and handover
Workshop time depends on the parts being available and the access required. A separately serviceable bush may involve removing an arm and using installation tooling, while an assembled arm has a different fitting process. We discuss the expected completion after those details are known.
At collection, the job record identifies the supplied parts and completed work, along with applicable warranty terms and remaining recommendations. There is no universal mileage interval that makes every thrust-arm bush due for replacement; future attention is guided by condition and the vehicle’s behavior.

2014 BMW 535i · standard suspension
Two thrust-arm bushes
An illustrative bush-only repair with two compatible replacement bushes and fitting. The existing arms and ball joints remain if they are serviceable. The estimate excludes replacement arm assemblies and unrelated front suspension work. Additional damaged fixings, alignment and the final tax treatment are set out in the written quotation.
2020 BMW 330i · alignment included
Bushing pair + alignment
A pair of compatible bushes with fitting, followed by alignment where required. This example combines the AED 850–1,500 repair allowance with AED 250–300 for 3 Series alignment. It assumes the arm assemblies remain suitable for reuse. Parts compatibility, additional findings and VAT are confirmed with the final job price.
2016 BMW X5 · one affected arm
Complete thrust arm
A single compatible thrust-arm assembly and fitting where a worn joint or unsuitable bush-only repair makes an assembly replacement appropriate. The other side is assessed rather than automatically added. This is a per-arm planning estimate; any second arm, alignment or additional suspension work is separately quoted.

Your questions answered
Practical answers about the repair, the price and arranging a workshop visit.
Will new thrust-arm bushes stop the braking shake?
They can help when unwanted movement in those bushes is contributing. Braking vibration can also involve tires, wheels, brakes or other suspension joints. We assess the cause before ordering parts and explain whether the recommendation addresses the full complaint or one part of a wider repair.
Do both sides need replacing?
Both sides are inspected. A matched pair may be appropriate when their condition supports it, but a single failed bush does not prove that every other suspension bush needs replacement. The quotation states the quantity and the reason for the recommended work.
Can the original thrust arms stay?
Yes, where separate bush replacement is permitted and the arms, mounting bores and ball joints remain suitable. If an arm is damaged or its joint is worn, a complete assembly may be the better repair. We compare the fitted options after inspection.
Is a thrust arm the same as every control arm?
No. Thrust arm or tension strut usually identifies a particular front suspension link in the relevant layout. A BMW may have other control arms with different roles and parts. We identify the exact component and side so the quote is clear.
Does the repair require coding?
A conventional mechanical bush replacement does not automatically require coding. Alignment or additional diagnostic work depends on the fitted equipment, the original complaint and the procedure for the repair. Any extra work should have a specific reason and be identified in the quote.
How do I book the check?
Call or WhatsApp with your BMW model and what you have noticed. We can arrange an inspection and obtain further vehicle details for parts matching where needed. You receive the repair options and fitted quote before approving the work.
