Can the windshield be repaired?
A small chip may be repairable. Long cracks, edge damage, or damage affecting visibility can require replacement. Size alone does not decide the answer.
Restore the correct fitted windshield
Replacement may be needed for spreading cracks, unsuitable previous repairs, delamination, or damage near sensitive viewing areas. A damage photo can help us plan the assessment. Take photos only when safely parked.

HUD and acoustic glass are different features and may be combined in one windshield. Calibration is separate. Required moldings, clips, sensor pads, frame repairs, replacement electronics, and transport are itemized extras. Rare specifications may cost more.

A 3 Series, 5 Series, or X5 badge does not identify every windshield option. Model year, body style, and equipment can change the part required.
Start with your BMW model and year. You do not need to identify the glass or sensors yourself. We can request the VIN and a mirror-area photo to confirm the correct part before ordering.
Genuine BMW or suitable supplier glass?
Genuine BMW glass carries BMW branding. Compatible supplier glass must match your fitted features. Compare the named manufacturer, specification, and written coverage in your quote before choosing.
Head-up display
Specify HUD-compatible glass. The correct optical construction matters for a clear projected display.
Camera mounting
Match the bracket, camera viewing area, and applicable driver-assistance requirements.
Rain and light sensors
Confirm mountings and the required optical coupling pad or gel. These parts are not the same as a forward camera.
Acoustic and solar features
Check the original glass specification, coatings, and any fitted heating or antenna features.

Camera and sensor work
BMW windshield camera and sensor checks
A windshield-mounted forward camera may require calibration after replacement under the applicable BMW procedure. We confirm the requirement and cost before booking. The quote should identify who performs calibration, where it takes place, and whether a separate visit is needed.
Static calibration, dynamic calibration, or other checks depend on the system. A dashboard without warnings is not, by itself, proof that a required calibration has been completed. Keep the completion record with your invoice when calibration is required.
Rain sensor work is different.
Transfer, correct coupling to the glass, and functional checks are needed where fitted. A camera calibration charge does not automatically include replacing a faulty rain sensor.
A windshield job does not automatically require radar calibration. The fitted systems and manufacturer procedure determine the work.

Fitting checks and drive-away timing
Need to plan around work or school? Share your preferred collection time when booking. Chip repair, glass fitting, and camera calibration need different appointment allowances. We confirm the expected schedule after checking the required glass and work; same-day availability is not guaranteed.
Fit and finish
Check glass position, moldings, clips, and surrounding trim. The replacement must sit correctly in the opening.
Visibility and equipment
Check the driver’s view, wiper operation, and relevant sensor functions. Check HUD clarity where fitted.
Seal and release
Complete appropriate seal checks and confirm the adhesive’s minimum drive-away time before release.
Aftercare and fitting coverage
Before you leaveFollow the adhesive release time and instructions for washing, pressure jets, and temporary tape.
Know your coverageConfirm the written duration and exclusions for glass defects and installation. New impact damage and faulty sensors need separate assessment.

Can a chip be repaired instead of replacing the windshield?
Possibly. The damage type, location, depth, contamination, and applicable repair requirements determine suitability. A small chip is not automatically repairable, and a successful repair may remain visible.
Will my head-up display work with replacement glass?
The replacement must support the HUD specification fitted to your BMW. Incorrect glass can affect the projected display. Confirm HUD compatibility in the quote and check display clarity at handover.
Does every windshield replacement need camera calibration?
No. It depends on whether a relevant camera is fitted and what the BMW procedure requires. Confirm this before booking, including the cost, arrangement, and completion record when applicable.
How soon can I drive after the glass is fitted?
Only after the specified minimum drive-away time and required checks are complete. The adhesive system and installation conditions determine the waiting period. A fixed one-hour or same-day promise would not suit every job.
Can I use insurance for windshield replacement?
Check your policy and obtain insurer approval before authorizing work if you intend to claim. Ask about the deductible, approved repairer, glass specification, and calibration coverage. Coverage and cashless billing are not assumed.
What if the windshield leaks but is not cracked?
The cause may involve the glass bond, surrounding bodywork, drains, or another water-entry point. Inspection should establish the source before resealing or replacing the glass. Applying sealant around the outside is not a universal repair.
What should I check when collecting my BMW?
Review the invoice, glass specification, visible fit, and aftercare instructions. Ask about wipers, sensors, HUD, any applicable calibration result, and written warranty terms. Report wind noise, water ingress, or new warnings promptly.
