Repair the fault and preserve your M4’s response
BMW Garage provides M4 engine repairs, transmission work, brake servicing, suspension repairs, cooling-system work and electrical diagnosis in Al Quoz 4, Dubai. Bring us a specific concern, whether that is uneven acceleration, a leak after parking, a shudder during gear selection or a change in braking. We inspect it and explain the repair that the findings support.
An M4 repair needs more detail than a model name and a fault-code screenshot. We identify the generation, transmission, braking equipment and modifications before ordering parts or agreeing the work. An F82 Coupe, F83 Convertible and later G82 or G83 do not all use the same service parts. Competition and special-edition equipment can change the price and the checks required.
You can book maintenance and fault diagnosis together. We keep the quotation clear so an oil service does not become an unexplained package of engine, gearbox and suspension replacements. Tell us your priorities and how the car is used. We will separate the work needed to address the complaint from maintenance that is due and other items that can be planned.
BMW M4 servicing and major repair budgets
| Service and inclusions | Guide price |
|---|---|
| Engine diagnostic workInitial fault assessment. Extended mechanical tests are agreed separately. | AED 250–400 |
| Engine oil serviceGuide for an applicable oil-and-filter service; oil approval, quantity and engine confirmed. | AED 600–900 |
| M DCT transmission serviceApplicable seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox only; fluid, filter and fitting details confirmed. | AED 2,000–3,500 |
| Turbocharger replacementExisting M4 replacement guide; confirm the unit quantity, parts and fitted total. | AED 5,000–9,000 |
| Engine rebuildingM4 starting budget, with internal damage and required machining assessed before a final quote. | From AED 10,000 |
| Brakes, adaptive dampers and roof repairsHardware, axle or failed roof component identified before pricing. | Quote after inspection |
These are indicative repair budgets, subject to inspection and parts availability. Your written quotation confirms the applicable parts, quantities, labor, fluids, testing and VAT before work begins. Starting prices do not cover every engine or equipment option.
Manual, M DCT and M Steptronic need different work
A transmission service or clutch quotation must identify the gearbox. Earlier M4s were available with a manual or seven-speed M DCT, while later versions use a manual or an eight-speed M Steptronic depending on variant. Paddle shifters do not identify which automatic transmission is fitted.
| Repair decision | Manual gearbox | Seven-speed M DCT | Eight-speed M Steptronic |
|---|---|---|---|
| A useful description | Clutch slip, difficult engagement, pedal behavior or noise with the pedal operated. | Low-speed engagement, shift quality, warning messages and whether the symptom changes when warm. | Delayed engagement, a particular shift disturbance, leaks or a transmission warning. |
| Before quoting | Clutch operation, hydraulics, related mounts and evidence of gearbox or flywheel damage. | Fault information, fluid leakage, operating behavior and the components implicated by testing. | The correct transmission identification, fluid condition where appropriate and relevant electronic or mechanical checks. |
| What the estimate names | Clutch components, any required flywheel or hydraulic work, seals and fitting. | The fluid-service parts or the specific repair. Clutch or control repairs are not assumed to be included in servicing. | The compatible service parts or confirmed repair. It does not use an M DCT maintenance package. |
The distinction matters financially. A transmission can need scheduled fluid-related work without needing internal repair. It can also have a confirmed internal fault that a fluid service cannot fix. We explain which situation applies before asking you to approve the next step. Adaptation or calibration is performed when appropriate to the work, not sold as a universal cure for a worn clutch or damaged gearbox.
If another workshop has recommended replacement, bring the findings and quotation. We can assess the complaint and explain what additional evidence is needed to compare a targeted repair with a replacement assembly. We do not promise that every gearbox is repairable, and we do not require you to accept replacement solely because a warning appeared.
Loss of power, misfires and turbocharger repairs
Investigate the conditions behind the warning
A drivetrain warning can accompany an engine-management fault as well as a transmission problem. We ask when it appears, whether the engine runs unevenly and whether power returns after the car is restarted. Autel diagnostics help us read relevant faults and operating information. Physical checks then test the likely cause rather than turning a list of codes into a list of parts.
Ignition, fuel delivery, the air path and control inputs can all affect acceleration. We inspect the items relevant to the recorded fault and complaint. A cylinder-specific misfire may justify checking a plug or coil, but it does not automatically justify replacing every injector. If the car shakes severely or a warning instructs you to stop, arrange transport instead of driving hard to demonstrate the fault.
Confirm turbo damage before replacement
F82 and F83 M4 models use the S55 turbocharged six-cylinder engine. Later M4s also use a turbocharged six-cylinder, with different equipment and service requirements. We check the fitted engine and parts rather than transferring an older quotation to a newer car. Boost leakage, control faults or an oil-related concern need to be distinguished from a damaged turbocharger.
Where replacement is justified, the quotation identifies the unit or units being supplied and the related lines, gaskets and fluids required. We inspect relevant supply and return connections and consider contamination or another cause that could affect the replacement. A turbo price that does not state its quantity and installation requirements is not yet a complete fitted estimate.
Cooling and lubrication repairs for an M engine
An M4 that loses coolant, runs hot or leaves oil marks needs investigation before another demanding drive. We locate external leaks and examine the relevant cooling components. The temperature at which a complaint appears, the presence of a warning and the car’s recent repair history all help us choose the checks. Replacing a pump based only on age is different from repairing a confirmed pump fault.
Cooling repairs may involve a hose, connection, radiator, pump or another component, depending on the engine. We explain the failed part and include the necessary filling and verification work. If overheating has occurred, we discuss whether further engine checks are needed. A repaired coolant leak does not establish that an engine which was driven while overheating has escaped additional damage.
Oil leaks and repeated top-ups
We distinguish oil escaping from the engine from oil being consumed internally. A damp undertray, residue near a cover or smoke after idling can require different tests. Cleaning and rechecking a suspected leak may be necessary because oil spreads. We do not prescribe thicker oil, additives or an engine rebuild simply because the level has dropped. The rate of loss and the condition of the engine guide the next step.

Brake parts selected for the hardware on your M4

A brake inspection considers the complete friction surface and pad condition, not only the outer edge visible through the wheel.
Steel or M carbon ceramic
We identify the installed brake system before ordering pads or discs. A steel-disc estimate does not apply to carbon-ceramic hardware. Caliper color by itself is not a reliable parts-ordering method, especially when a car has been modified. The vehicle specification and actual fitted components both need checking.
Front, rear or both axles
The quotation names the axle, number of discs and pad set, together with any required wear sensors or hardware. We explain why a disc needs replacement and whether uneven pad wear suggests another fault. A full-car price must not be inferred from an unspecified brake-pad figure.
Noise, heat and pedal feel
Some brake concerns involve wear; others involve fitment, contamination, sticking components or damage. We investigate the complaint and explain the appropriate repair. A sudden change in pedal response, grinding or substantial pulling needs prompt attention. Ask us about transport if braking performance is impaired.
Road use and occasional circuit use place different demands on friction components and fluids. Tell us about any nonstandard pads, discs, fluid or cooling changes already fitted. We can discuss their relevance to the reported issue and the service being booked, but a normal road-service appointment is not a certification that the car is ready for a track event.
After approved brake work, we check the completed installation and explain any bedding or follow-up instructions that apply to the selected parts. We do not promise silent brakes in every condition or suggest that maximum-performance material is always the most comfortable choice for ordinary Dubai driving.
Suspension, wheel alignment and driveline vibration
An M4 should be assessed for the equipment it actually has. Adaptive dampers, conventional components and aftermarket suspension do not share one repair list. We inspect worn joints, bushes, mounts and dampers, and consider wheel or tire damage where the complaint involves vibration. Parts are selected to suit the existing arrangement or an explicitly agreed change.
A steering pull or uneven tire wear is not always solved by alignment alone. Worn or damaged parts can prevent the geometry from remaining correct. We identify those concerns before setting alignment and explain the order of work. If the car is lowered or fitted with different wheels, provide the details so clearances and the customer’s intended use can be considered.
Rear differential and M xDrive
We distinguish rear differential complaints from wheel bearings, tires, driveshafts and mounts. On an M xDrive-equipped car, compatible tires and the additional drive components are relevant to diagnosis. An earlier rear-wheel-drive M4 does not need an xDrive transfer-box repair. Describe whether the noise appears while turning, under power or during a steady-speed drive.

When engine repair becomes a larger decision
An unusual mechanical noise, low compression or evidence of internal damage needs a measured assessment. We explain which tests can be performed with the engine assembled and what dismantling would add. The next decision may be a limited repair, rebuilding the existing engine or considering a replacement. You receive the findings and cost implications before authorizing the larger job.
An engine code or internet reputation does not prove that a particular M4 needs bearings, a timing repair or a complete rebuild. We consider the actual history, symptoms and inspection results. A quiet engine also cannot be declared free of every internal problem from a quick scan. We avoid both blanket failure claims and blanket assurances, particularly when assessing a car with unknown modifications or previous engine work.
If rebuilding is appropriate, the quotation distinguishes dismantling and inspection from the confirmed repair, machining, replacement components and reassembly. Some costs cannot be finalized until damaged surfaces and clearances can be assessed. We explain that before the engine is opened so you understand what has been authorized and when another decision is required.
A replacement engine also requires checks of compatibility, its stated condition and what ancillary parts are included. A used assembly can exclude components needed for a complete installation. We discuss the supplied engine, preparation, fitting, fluids, relevant adaptation or configuration and the warranty terms that apply. Comparing complete quotations is more useful than comparing the bare price of two engines.
An M4 service built around its history
For scheduled servicing, we review the vehicle’s maintenance information, invoices and current condition. The oil approval and quantity must suit the fitted engine. An oil-and-filter service should also identify the required sealing parts and checks included. We record completed work and reset applicable service information only after the corresponding work is performed.
Spark plugs, filters, brake fluid and transmission or differential maintenance are considered individually. Tell us about previous services, the parts already fitted and anything that was postponed. This avoids repeating recent work or overlooking an item because the car has a recent oil-service receipt. For a focused booking, our M4 oil change service provides the next contact point.
If the M4 is used infrequently, battery condition, tire condition and fluid leaks still matter. A low annual distance does not automatically mean that every time-dependent service can be deferred. Equally, we do not invent a single severe-use interval for all M4 generations. We discuss the vehicle’s actual service requirements and usage when agreeing a plan.
Modified cars need a clear account of the modifications. Tell us about engine software, exhaust changes, fueling components, suspension parts and aftermarket electronics. This information can affect diagnosis and compatibility. We do not assume an unknown tune is factory behavior or promise that a repair will preserve unsupported software changes. Discuss any relevant limitations before work starts.
Convertible, bodywork and cabin electrical faults
Roof operation and damaged panels
For a Convertible, we identify the roof construction and inspect the failed operation. A stopped sequence can involve mechanical movement, alignment, sensors or wiring. Do not force the roof or repeatedly operate it against resistance. Tell us whether it is secured shut, partly open or exposed to rain so collection can be planned appropriately.
A bumper scrape and damage to a structural or carbon component require different decisions. We inspect attachment points, panel condition and equipment around the damage before recommending repair or replacement. A cosmetic price is not a promise that a damaged carbon roof or structural component can be restored safely with surface refinishing.
Battery and electronic functions
A weak battery, charging problem or abnormal drain can affect starting and produce other symptoms. We test the cause before fitting a replacement and confirm the required specification, registration and any applicable coding. If the car has an aftermarket tracker, camera or audio equipment, tell us because those changes may be relevant to a drain complaint.
For air conditioning, iDrive, lighting or camera faults, we assess the specific function and its power supply, wiring or controls as appropriate. We explain whether the confirmed work concerns a component, connection or configuration. An electrical scan is useful evidence, but it does not make every electronic failure a software repair.
Discuss a focused M4 repair
If you already know which area needs attention, you can arrange M4 brake repair, M4 clutch work or M4 engine repair directly. Bring any inspection findings with the enquiry. We still confirm the installed equipment and condition before ordering parts.
For a manual clutch quotation, tell us whether the concern is slipping, difficult engagement or a noise that changes with pedal operation. For brakes, state whether the complaint appears at the front or rear and whether any hardware has been changed. For an engine concern, include recent work and warning messages. These details make the first estimate more useful and help us allow the appropriate inspection time.
Plan the repair and your time without the car
We confirm the appointment after learning what needs investigating and whether the M4 can be driven safely. A scheduled service with available parts and a major mechanical repair need different booking plans. We do not promise the same completion time for both. The estimate should explain any parts lead time, further inspection and testing that affect handover.
Before starting, we identify the approved parts and work. If inspection reveals additional damage, we explain it and request a decision before adding work. Suitable genuine BMW or specified quality replacement parts can be discussed where available. The quotation names the selected option and the applicable warranty terms rather than relying on vague claims about every repair being identical to a dealership job.

BMW M4 repair questions
Answers to help you arrange the right workshop visit in Al Quoz 4, Dubai.
Do you repair F82, F83, G82 and G83 M4 models?
We arrange M4 repair and maintenance after identifying the generation, engine, transmission and fitted equipment. Coupe and Convertible bodywork, older M DCT and later M Steptronic transmissions need different parts and procedures. Send the VIN and describe the fault so we can confirm the appropriate inspection and parts availability for your car.
Does every M4 have a dual-clutch transmission?
No. The M4 range includes manual, seven-speed M DCT and later eight-speed M Steptronic versions, depending on generation and variant. A DCT fluid-service quote does not apply to every automatic M4. We identify the gearbox before pricing maintenance, a clutch repair or internal transmission work.
Does a drivetrain warning mean the gearbox has failed?
No. The message can accompany faults affecting engine performance as well as the transmission or driveline. We read the relevant faults and check the conditions behind the warning. Tell us about rough running, lost power or shifting problems. Stop safely if the car instructs you to stop or its behavior makes continued driving unsafe.
Can you quote carbon-ceramic brakes from a normal pad price?
No. We need to identify the installed hardware, axle and required components. Carbon-ceramic and steel-disc systems have different parts and assessment requirements. We inspect condition and provide a quotation for the actual work. A general brake-pad estimate must not be taken as a carbon-ceramic brake replacement price.
Will you work on an M4 with modifications?
Tell us what has been changed before booking. Modifications can affect diagnostic results, compatibility and the available repair options. We assess the requested work and explain limitations before accepting it. A workshop visit does not automatically include tuning, emissions-related changes, track preparation or restoration of unsupported software.
Is an engine rebuild included in the starting price?
The starting figure is a budgeting reference for applicable work. The final amount depends on the engine condition, replacement components, machining, fitting requirements and testing. Internal inspection may be necessary before those costs are known. We explain the inspection cost and approval stages before dismantling so you can make the next decision with useful evidence.
Can I arrange collection of a car with gearbox problems?
Contact us with its location and current condition. Tell us whether it starts, moves, steers and selects neutral, and whether there is a leak or severe noise. We can discuss suitable transport. Do not drive a car with unreliable gear engagement or a serious warning simply to reach the workshop.
