Two reasons to book

Scheduled spark plug service or a misfire check?

Tell us which best describes your BMW. Routine maintenance and fault diagnosis involve different work, even when both eventually need new plugs.

The car runs normally

Replace a set that is due

Start with your model and year. Mileage and replacement records are helpful if available. We check the applicable maintenance requirement, match the plug specification, and quote a complete set with fitting.

  • Useful when the service record confirms replacement is due.
  • No automatic coil replacement or engine repair.
  • A clear parts-and-labor quote before the visit.
The car shakes, hesitates, or shows a warning

Find the cause before choosing parts

A misfire can involve a plug, ignition coil, injector, air leak, wiring, or an internal engine problem. A fault code identifies a symptom or affected cylinder, not necessarily the failed part.

  • Share when it happens: cold, warm, idle, or acceleration.
  • Send the full fault report if one is available.
  • Approve the diagnostic charge before testing begins.

Included in a routine replacement

Correct plug set, normal engine-cover and coil access, removed-plug and plug-well inspection, installation to the applicable specification, reassembly, and a running check.

Quoted separately when required

Misfire diagnosis, estimated at AED 250–450 + VAT for agreed initial testing; coils, oil-leak repairs, damaged connectors, seized plugs, thread repairs, or unusually involved access.

Routine service or paid diagnosis?

A normally running BMW booked for scheduled plug replacement does not automatically need a paid misfire investigation. If you report shaking, hesitation, or a warning, initial testing is quoted first. Should plugs be required, we explain the replacement cost and any diagnostic credit before approval. Extra testing or repairs need a separate agreement.

Planning ranges, not fixed offers. Each assumes a suitable new matched plug set, with the manufacturer confirmed in your quote. Genuine BMW and supplier-branded options may differ in price. M engines, V12s, tuned vehicles, and difficult-access applications need individual quotes. Your written quote states the brand, quantity, fitting, and final VAT-inclusive amount.

Small part. Specific requirements.

The right spark plugs for your BMW engine

Thread size and reach, seat design, heat range, electrode design, and gap requirements must suit the engine. A plug that screws into the head is not automatically the correct replacement.

Genuine BMW parts

BMW-branded plugs selected for the vehicle. The quotation identifies the set and quantity being supplied.

Suitable supplier-branded parts

A correctly cataloged option from a reputable manufacturer may be available. We confirm the application and supplied brand, rather than treating every product labeled “OEM” as identical.

Tuned and M engines

Tell us about software or hardware changes before ordering. A colder heat range or different gap is not an automatic upgrade for a standard engine.

Diesel BMWs use glow plugs rather than ignition spark plugs. Fully electric BMWs do not need this service. Plug-in hybrids with a gasoline engine still have engine-specific spark plug requirements.

When should you replace them?

Use the service requirement for your engine

There is no single replacement mileage for every BMW. The correct interval depends on the engine, model year, market maintenance schedule, and any specific operating or tuning requirements.

Not sure when the plugs were last changed? Tell us your model and mileage, if known, and we can help check the next step. An earlier invoice helps confirm the last replacement, but it is not required to make an inquiry.

Helpful details after your first inquiry

  1. Model and yearStarts the parts check. The VIN may be requested later.
  2. Current mileageHelps compare the service history with the applicable schedule.
  3. Last plug replacementAn invoice is more useful than assuming plugs were included in an oil service.
  4. Symptoms or modificationsMay change the checks needed before routine replacement.

What happens at the workshop

What your spark plug replacement includes

01

Confirm the agreed work

Check the engine and supplied set. If you report misfires or warning lights, establish whether testing is needed before treating the visit as routine maintenance.

02

Access and inspect

Remove the necessary covers and coils using the correct procedure. Check for damaged boots, connectors, debris, or oil in the plug wells. Extra repairs need approval.

03

Fit to specification

Use suitable tools, protect the threads, and follow the engine and plug manufacturer’s fitting instructions. Tightening and gap requirements are specific, not one setting for all BMWs.

04

Check and document

Reassemble, check engine operation, and record the supplied parts. Any fault investigation needs its own verification against the original complaint.

Oil around the plugs needs a separate explanation

Oil in a plug well can point to a cover or tube-seal leak. New plugs alone do not stop that leak. If confirmed, we explain the additional valve cover gasket repair before adding it to the job.

If the engine is not running smoothly

A misfire needs more than a new set of plugs

We review fault information and the conditions in which the misfire occurs, then select checks that help distinguish ignition, fueling, air supply, and mechanical causes.

  • Plug findings: wear, damage, or fouling may guide the next check. Appearance alone does not explain every cause.
  • Coil and connection checks: a faulty coil or connection can affect a good plug.
  • Further investigation: persistent faults may need injector, air-leak, or compression testing, agreed separately.

Coils are separate components. See BMW ignition coil replacement if testing points to a coil. A routine plug service does not require replacing every coil.

Already replaced the plugs?

Tell us the plugs were recently replaced. An invoice or fault report can help if available. Checking fitment and other causes is more useful than repeating the replacement without a diagnosis.

Plan your workshop visit

Ask for a booking allowance when your model and parts are confirmed. Engine cooling time, access, workshop scheduling, and any diagnosis affect when the car is ready. A routine replacement and an intermittent misfire investigation can require different visit lengths. Confirm the expected collection time before arranging pickup or waiting at the workshop.

Keep a useful service record

At handover, review the installed plug brand and quantity, work completed, and any remaining recommendations. Keep the invoice with your vehicle records so the next maintenance decision is based on an actual replacement date. If rough running continues after service, contact the workshop and describe when it happens rather than assuming another plug set is needed.

Six-plug scheduled replacement

AED 750–1,100 + VAT

Six matched plugs, normal access and reassembly, removed-plug inspection, and a running check.

A misfire complaint adds separately agreed testing; it is not assumed to be cured by this set.

2017 BMW 750i · N63-equipped example

Eight-plug V8 service

AED 1,100–1,800 + VAT

Eight matched plugs and the agreed standard access labor, fitting, reassembly, and running check.

Additional access work, damaged threads, or other repairs require a revised quote.

These maintenance estimates assume new, correctly matched plug sets and standard fitting. The supplied manufacturer, available alternatives, booking allowance, and written parts-and-labor coverage are confirmed for your vehicle before approval. Fault diagnosis is separate when needed; it is not automatically added to a scheduled service.

Before your visit

BMW spark plug replacement FAQs

Does the fitted price include VAT and diagnosis?

The published estimates include a suitable plug set and normal fitting, but exclude VAT. Initial misfire testing is separately estimated at AED 250–450 + VAT when needed. Routine maintenance does not automatically include this charge. Any diagnostic credit is confirmed in the written quote.

What warranty comes with the spark plug service?

Coverage depends on the supplied parts and agreed work. Confirm parts and workmanship coverage, its duration, any mileage limit, exclusions, and the claim process before approval. Keep the invoice and part details for future reference.

Can you collect my BMW for replacement?

Dubai pickup and drop-off are available subject to arrangements. Share your location and whether the car runs normally. A vehicle with severe shaking, stalling, or a flashing engine light may require recovery instead. Confirm any transport charge before dispatch.

What do I need to request a quote?

Start with your BMW model and year, and say whether this is scheduled maintenance or a running problem. Mileage, the VIN, and previous invoices can follow later if useful. You do not need to diagnose the problem before contacting us.

How much does BMW spark plug replacement cost in Dubai?

Selected four-cylinder sets are estimated at AED 550–800 + VAT supplied and fitted. Six-cylinder sets are AED 750–1,100 + VAT, and selected V8 sets are AED 1,100–1,800 + VAT. The VIN, supplied parts, and access determine the quote. Misfire diagnosis and other repairs are separate.

Should all the spark plugs be replaced together?

For scheduled maintenance, replacing the complete matched set is normally appropriate. A single damaged plug may be handled differently after checking why it failed and the condition and age of the remaining set. Coils do not automatically need replacement at the same time.

How long does the service take?

Many straightforward replacements can be completed during a workshop visit once the correct parts are available and the engine can be worked on safely. Access on some engines takes longer. Confirm the booking allowance for your VIN, especially if diagnosis is also needed.

Do BMW spark plugs need coding?

Spark plugs do not normally require coding. Relevant service records or maintenance indicators are updated where applicable. A misfire investigation may involve diagnostic checks, but clearing codes or resetting adaptations is not a substitute for correcting the fault.

Can new plugs fix rough idle or poor fuel economy?

They may help when worn or faulty plugs are the cause. Similar symptoms can come from coils, injectors, air leaks, or mechanical problems. Diagnosis is the right starting point when there is an active complaint rather than simply a scheduled service.

What helps avoid repeat plug problems?

Follow the applicable maintenance schedule, keep replacement records, and investigate persistent misfires or oil contamination. Tell the workshop about tuning. Replacing plugs repeatedly without addressing the underlying cause can leave the same problem unresolved.

A matched set. A clear price.
